End of Year 1 exams: Learner response

 1) Type up your feedback from both papers in full (you do not need to write marks/grades if you do not wish to).

Paper 1:

WWW:There is some clear potential in several questions but overall this is an important lesson that you need stronger knowledge of the CSPs to access the higher levels.

EBI: CSP knowledge: you need to write about the texts in greater detail.  Question focus:  Make sure you stay focused on what the question is asking you.  Revise industry: film and radio.

Paper 2:

WWW:  Your Q2 essay shows clear potential : reference to the CSPs  and the contexts of their production. The challenge now is to hit that level across the whole exam.

EBI:  Note taking : you need high quality notes focused on the key words in the question. Revise narrative theories and terminology. 1.3 needs to focus on the clip in the exam.

2) Look at the two mark scheme documents linked above. Pick out ONE thing from Paper 1 and ONE thing from Paper 2 that you learned from the mark schemes:
  • Paper 1: CSP knowledge.
  • Paper 2:  Narrative features.
3) Look specifically at your Paper 1 exam. Write down THREE things you need to improve for next time you take on a Paper 1 mock exam.

-The industry for film and radio.
-staying focused on the question.
-Write about the texts in greater detail.

4) Now focus on Paper 2. Write down THREE things you need to improve for next time you take on a Paper 2 mock exam (Television).

-Need to take higher quality notes.
- Revising narrative theories and terminology.
-focus on the clip.

5) What final overall grade do you hope to achieve in GCSE Media Studies this time next year?
 Hopefully 6
